Real experiences from real travelers
We booked the speedboat option and it was fantastic. The crew was hilarious and took great care of us. Sea canoeing was the best part - our paddler took us into hidden caves we would never have found alone. James Bond island was busy but beautiful.
We chose the longtail boat tour. It involves a van ride to Phang Nga first, which takes about an hour, but the boat ride itself was so smooth and peaceful compared to speedboats. The lunch at the floating village was delicious and plenty of halal options.
Everything was well organized from the hotel pickup to the drop-off. The guide spoke good English. The Monkey Cave was interesting, though the monkeys are cheeky! Definitley bring cash for the park fees.
My kids (8 and 10) loved the canoeing. The guides were very helpful with them. The floating football pitch at Koh Panyee was a hit. Highly recommended.
We did the sunset tour which avoided some of the morning crowds. The bioluminescent plankton swim at the end was a nice surprise. Food was basic but tasty.
The sun is very strong on the water! The tour covered all the main spots. Hong Island lagoon was breathtaking. I appreciated the free water and fruit on the boat.
We saw a lot in one day. I wish we had more time at James Bond Island, but I understand the schedule. The lunch at Panyee was excellent with good vegetarian choices.
Safety was clearly a priority. The captain navigated the tides perfectly to get us into the caves. A truly memorable day out.
Everything you need to know for your journey
No, the National Park fee (typically 300 THB for adults, 150 THB for children) is usually paid in cash directly to the rangers on the day of the tour. Please verify specific tour details.
Speedboats are faster, bumpier, and depart directly from Krabi/Ao Nang, giving you more time on the islands. Longtail boat tours usually involve a 60-90 minute van transfer to a pier in Phang Nga province, followed by a smoother, more traditional boat ride within the bay.
Yes, the lunch is served at Koh Panyee, which is a 100% Muslim floating village. The food served is Halal-certified Thai cuisine, with vegetarian options typically available.
Large luggage cannot be accommodated on speedboats due to space and safety. If you are changing hotels, we recommend hiring a private transfer or storing luggage at your hotel.
Tours run rain or shine unless sea conditions are unsafe. Phang Nga Bay is naturally sheltered, so waters remain relatively calm even when it rains. In case of cancellation by the operator due to weather, you will receive a full refund.
Speedboats usually have a small marine toilet. Longtail boats do not, but there are restroom stops at the pier, James Bond Island, and the floating village.
Bring enough cash for the National Park fee (300 THB), tips for guides/paddlers (optional but appreciated), and personal souvenirs. Approx 1000-1500 THB per person is a safe amount.
Free pickup is generally included for Ao Nang, Krabi Town, and Klong Muang. Remote areas like Tubkaek or Railay Beach (which requires a boat transfer to the mainland) may incur a surcharge or require meeting at a designated point.
Yes, life jackets are mandatory and provided. Sea canoeing is done by a paddler guide, so you can just sit back and relax.
